Air France reduces the number of Airbus A380s in the fleet

The contract terms of five superjumbos expire at the end of 2019. The French flag carrier will retain only the five A380 in its full ownership. Smith justified the carrier's decision with the high operating cost of the aircraft. Airline's Boeing 777-300ER fleet is still the backbone of its long-haul routes. The Airbus A380 consumes much more kerosene than the 777-300ER on the same routes. Can’t be very many airlines interested in used A380’s. Will be interesting to see what happens to them when they leave the AFR fleet next year.

Agree. Will watch with interest. I did not read the article but it sounds biased and maybe uninformed (comparing fuel consumption and not fuel per passenger km). Will watch comments with interest.
