U.S. aviation agency probes Branson's Virgin Galactic flight deviation

come on already- this is not the approach into JFK that flies over Newark coming from the northwest at usually 15,000 ft or more, that makes a rapid descent once over the ocean, for an approach to whatever Kennedy runway is in use: Nobody else was up there anywhere near. Ballistics is a variable thing if any inputs are changed, and some did get changed, and the descent path was different than predicted. This seems silly to me....

Well O.K. pb, you , per your bio. are an instrument rated 'driver' and operate within the 'system'. File IFR into or out of any major airspace/airport these days and deviate from the RNP RNAV arrivals or departures by a mile or more and see how long it takes ATC to ask you 'where you are goin'. This is Not your earlier era 'kinder, gentler FAA' post the Boeing Max facade. See third world airline operator accident rates. As well, a glance at the FA aircraft in flight intro. map at the time of this event might dispel the notion that "Nobody else was up there anywhere near".

FAA grounds Virgin Galactic amidst investigation into July mission

The Federal Aviation Administration said it was grounding all Virgin Galactic flights until further notice, pending the results of the investigation into the company’s July 11 crewed flight.

“Virgin Galactic may not return the SpaceShipTwo vehicle to flight until the FAA approves the final mishap investigation report or determines the issues related to the mishap do not affect public safety.”
