The Israelies purchase american military aircraft- A-5, F-16, F-15, F-35 and leave the exteriors just as they purchased them. The indigenous equipment installed in Israel is what i find interesting, for once the israeli modifiers fiinish, the aircraft works better than advertised. Hmm.... Perhaps whatever is done to the KC-46's, Boeing should do likewise to each one comming off the lines in Washington state, then the aircraft would work properly finally, and be worth flying and buying.' without perpetual hiccups...

that goes to the definition of ETOPS, and the aircraft would have flown on to the nearest runway long enough to land safely upon. It would have been a colorful, stressful time, but the trust that the pilots, crew, passengers and the airlines put into a two-engined trans-oceananic flight would have been up for discussion based on on the outcome. My belief is the 777 would have continued safely barring further complications.

ted has a 2 million dollar house: is it reasonable to surmise this might be in a gated, patrolled community purchased to ted does not have to mix with his public.... So he can remain insulated, away from the riff-raff?

You only need a second pilot when you need one, and microchips are a poor substitute. This relentless march of lemmings toward the cliff about less and later no humans in commercial cockpits will assure me of not flying in such a configuration. What is the basis for non-pilot executives and beancounters to be so outwardly confident about no longer needing two, or one or any humans to fly commercial aircraft? Pilots have an obvious vested interest in the safe operation of every flight because the pilot gets to the scene of the accident first. I speak vociferously, forcefully against this folly- just because systems can be built does not in any way, ever, guarantee they be safe enough ever, for me, and many other pilots.

this was a public service leaking incident, so don't get so huffy about it. Not substantial harm was done here.

this is an infrequent occurrence, but one that is frequently trained for in simulators, and one that was anticipated by proper engineering and construction... I view it as an occurrence trained for and properly handled by a well trained flight crew. Training verified by performance...
