Why is it that so many air crashes have ocurred lately in Asia?
Everybody likens this to Airbus and the Pitot problem. I guess that no one is old enough to remember Southern 242 from Huntsville to Atlanta. No Pitot problem. Both engines quit after injestion and damage from water and hail. Pilot almost made it down clean onto a highway, except for a utility pole and a gas station.
Larry, you expect somebody to remember a happening from 35-40 years ago when a lot do good to remember yesterday. LOL. I personally think that whatever caught up this flight was bad enough that it would not have mattered whether it was Airbus or Boeing. That will probably be a source of contention for a long time but so be it.
Will they ever stop calling these things "black boxes" when they are and have forevermore been painted "international orange" for their conspicuity even when appearing in photographs accompanying the report. It's likely that the FDR will show an upset and loss of control probably caused by convective activity in the area as reported previously. If the airplane then tumbled out of control while descending into the heart of the beast, a TSTM with accompanying severe turbulence, the airframe could have been subjected to structural overstress forces making recovery from the upset impossible.
WHEN is the pea-brained media going to stop using the term "black boxes"????? Are they too lazy to call them WHAT they really are? Can they not SEE they are orange???
If it weren't for the 'pea brain' public calling them black boxes the change might occur but public being public they will never change.
The "pea brain public" didn't make up the term all by itself.
Wanna bet? Included in that 'pea brain public are the media!! Public all think they are knowledgeable in aviation but truth be told large majority are neophytes.
Guess what? You're a member of the public.
Only difference I was in aviation as a professional, one enlightened in the industry!
