Thanks for this Max. The Bay Area is quite crowded but generally most area pilots know how to do the Bay Tour and are on high alert right by SFO. I never had any troubles - the idea is to keep situational awareness at its peak there. Maintaining a visual is then easy and the tour one of GA's treasures in the US.

Shawn, totally agreed. Having planes fly by SFO at 1500 is perfectly safe. When they occasionally need to launch a heavy off 28L or 28R (the longest runways) small aircraft flying by are usually turned to a heading of 280 degrees to parallel the departing aircraft or at instructed to cross directly over the field, which totally eliminates any conflict. When I fly that route in a small plane, I'm always looking at 28L or 28R to get advance notice of anything they may be sending my way.

I don't know if the female pilot was the Captain or F/O, but she sounds pissed when she says, "We need to talk." Not fun to have a TCAS go off while on departure or approach.

A United pilot told me that the female pilot was the Captain. No question about it, she sounded upset.

That ATC better be wearing asbestos boxers for that "talk"!
