ATSB finds fatigue crack on engine pipe cause of QF32 incident

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) has released its final report into the uncontained engine failure involving a Qantas A380 over Batam Island, Indonesia on 4 November 2010, finding the failure was the result of a fatigue crack in an oil feed-pipe in the number two Rolls-Royce Trent 900 of the aircraft. Here is another example of why experienced professional pilots on board were able to manage the systems despite fires in the engine and fuel tank, and debris from the engine damaging control wiring. The crew deserves kudos from everyone for landing safely in the face of a life threating situation.

Rolls should be getting their lubrication distribution systems from the USA. Everyone know that Americans are experts at laying pipe!
