Several agencies have publicly stated they use drones and for what purpose. As the writier of the article himself acknowledges, the office which deals with UAV licenses is understaffed. Given how long it takes offices that aren't understaffed to respond to FOIAs due to the need to review them for any possible exemptions, it's not surprising it's been more than a year without response.

I am normally not on the side of "Big Brother" but in this case I think showing discretion for which law enforcement agencies have them is probably a good thing.

In this period of time, it just shows how secretive the US Government has become when dealing with US Citizens. Whether the FAA is understaffed, or not, their job is to respond to the petitions of Citizens who are concerned about the airspace and what is going on above us! Don't worry son, just drink the cool aid.... everything will be just fine. Ben Franklin probably rolled over in his grave.
