Geez. I am not a Bird Lover, but good grief. Why would the FAA Waste there time. They do not have enough man power to take care of what is important. I am surprised the FAA doesn't TATOO N Numbers on birds so they can track bird strikes.... Make just as much since.

sparkie624 you nailed that on the dot. And when he makes radio calls does he have to report the flock of birds behind him? Being a pilot I have learned to hate the thought of birds and airplanes mixing. Now they are showing birds where to fly? Seems kinda useless don't it.

I'm not really for or against the whooping crane debacle. I just hope I'm not up in an ultralight when those cranes are around..that would be surprising if they decided to tag along..

The FAA would not have wasted time if the person reporting it would have kept his nose out of things. Some people just can't leave well enough alone - this is their 11th migration with no problems with the FAA until now. All it takes is one idiot to put a monkey wrench in to things and involve the FAA. Showing birds where to fly - useless? Some may think so, but to others wanting to save a species on the verge of extinction it is totally worthwhile. This non-profit group does this with donations and foundation grants with LOTS of volunteers. To learn more about operation migration and see some of the beautiful photos of the ultra-lights with the cranes in tight formation go to www.operationmigration.org. A big THANK YOU to the FAA in helping this years migration get back off the ground.

Well said Don! I agree! There are many uses for aviation beyond the obvious and this is one of them. (side note, not sure if it's coicidence but I think I might have been a ramper at an airline you were a pilot at way back when!)
