I took the liberty of adding the word "schedule" to your title before "overruns," which has a double meaning in this situation.

By Jon Ostrower: I'm sure the author would not agree if he wanted schedule in his title he would have put it there. Now why would Boeing schedule and aircraft roll out four years late at massive cost.

The schedule is what's experiencing overruns, not the plane.

Was it a typo, or is the Leap-X 1B really 1012% more efficient than the CFM56-7BE currently used? If that's correct, that's an impressive jump, and long live the 737!
