12 South African Cheetah fighters sold to US as training jets
South African state-owned arms manufacturer Denel has announced that it will sell 12 SA-designed supersonic Cheetah fighter jets to US-based Draken International. The U.S Navy did the same thing in the 80's or 90's they bought a bunch of F-21 Kfir's For aggressor squadrons.
It is easy to infer from the headline that the purchase was made to the US government rather than a private company. The company appears to provide the US government with opposing force aircraft against to train.
