Given I have not flown on a 220, I have no say :) but I've always thought the 717 and its sister aircraft the MD's have/had a great ride. Way too loud, but did have a nice ride.
The 717 is much, much quieter than a 737-900. Flew both on back to back legs last year. It was my first time on a 717. Great airplane.
Puttin' the noise in the back has always had a major effect on the noise in the front!
