Student on first solo XC in Santa Barbara forgets to plan for gas, lands on freeway
Instructor taught him off airport landing technique, but apparently not planning for flight fuel and VFR reserves! The CHP let them take off on the highway to return to base. Pretty close to that oak tree eh? (www.keyt.com) 更多...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
Fuel is pretty important to completing a flight. It's right there after an engine and wings. Lol
The guy is 25 years old, hardly a kid. But what gets me is this line from the article:
>> He said he has every intention to complete the hours needed to get his private pilot's license.
It's not about the hours. Proper judgment, following established procedures like pre-flights and checklists is more important than the number of hours you rack up.
