Boeing 747-400 (N465MC)
Atlas Air (GTI) B744, N465MC, on the Atlantic Aviation ramp as the dawn sunlight begins to find its way to shine through dark clouds. The rain had stopped falling about 45 minutes before this pic was taken.
This gorgeous Queen of the Skies was preparing to depart for a flight to Cherry Point (KNKT). Some of the hundreds of US Marines boarding this flight had been stranded here in Reno since Saturday when an Omni Air International Triple 7 that was enroute to pick them up was forced to divert to Dallas. Those Marines had been given rooms at a downtown Reno Casino, and the ones I spoke with did not seem to be very upset about being stranded in Reno for three days.

This is one of a rapidly dwindling number of passenger-configured 747s. Thanks to everyone who made it possible for me to tour this wonderful aircraft, and Thanks also to each of the 14 flight attendants who welcomed me as I went thru their aircraft.
Very nice!
Dang, I remember like it yesterday, the first time I saw a 747 flying. January 1970. Huge white whale with giant blue meatball over great south bay, long island, about 2,000ft inbound to "Idlewild". Now I feel hugely...old...Nice image
30 years old and still kicking! This has to be one of the oldest 747-400's still in service. I wonder if it still has the old CRT displays or if they have been upgraded.
