I felt left out of most of this Video? seeing as I DON'T speak or understand French? I thought that ALL ATC and Aircraft had to use the English Language for ALL communications?

"I felt left out of most of this Video? seeing as I DON'T speak or understand French? " As you would much of the ATC/pilot comms. in most non-english native tongue countries when operating there as a native english speaking pilot without the command of the native language. The natives check in with ATC in their native tongue and communicate in same more often than not. There are more of them and it's their country.

I, on the other hand, checked in in English and that was the often broken language for my comms.. I have left more than one holding stack for the alternate when the weather was in the dumpster and they started to miss approaches and I had no idea what anyone else was doing! Survival of the fittest was not assured if you didn't add the language barrier issue. Remember, the ICAO is governed by the U.N., not particularly user friendly to the U.S. of A. these days, if ever.

Normally all airlines we film will do all presentations as well as communications with ATC in English however on here they did do all presentations in English but the communications with ATC needed to be in French as it is their company policy... in French speaking countries obviously... and no, there are a number of languages that are used by ATC around the world.
