— — - What you see in this photo is a Glenview Naval Air Station, Glenview, Illinois based PB4Y taking off from the old Sky Harbor Airport in Northbrook, Illinois where it had landed by mistake (I forget the date) on a 2,500 ft. long runway. Everything that could be removed from the airplane was removed to lighten it for the "very short field takeoff". For those that are familiar with Northbrook, IL., notice the background! Empty then, but now filled with homes and factories.

Thanks Alfred. I read about that incident, it was in a historical story about Glenview. Could estimate the circa of the photo?...Thanks, Sam
