Why the red border around the starboard cockpit window?
Peter,
The red outline delineates the FO window as an emergency exit/entry. There is a mechanism just below the sliding window to allow access by Crash Fire Rescue Crews to gain entry into the Flight Deck. The CA sliding window on the other side does not have that mechanism.
All Boeing 707, 727 and 737 aircraft that I flew have that feature.
Hope that helps!
