Boeing B-29 Superfortress (N69972)
Doc with a low approach along Runway 36 during War Bird Air Show.........
Comments
Any ideas why the main landing gear doors are open?
Gear is retracting or dropping.
another of those tough WWII war birds
Great! The only thing better would be driving this beauty.
And that is one of the two remaining airworthy B-29's. (The other is "Fifi")
Have a question for all you old war bird buffs. During a bombing mission, and all are in formation, the order "bombs away" is givin. At that point of release, does the plane rise with less weight?
Check out that finish.....
"I'm going to polish the plane"
"see you in three months........."
Saw the other flyable B-29, Fifi at TICO airshow a few years back. Amazing to see and touch these pieces of history......

Kirk, yes, performance increases with payload dropped.
What a beautiful plane! !
But my grandfather was saying
Seventy years ago, bombing made the city a sea of fire.
A lot of B29 flew to the sky.
And They were dyed red and sparkling
Thank you always for the wonderful photos
Thank youfor peace
