UNKNOWN —
June/July 1971, taking a charter flight from Niagara Falls to Gatwick with a Gas-N-Go stop at Gander. I was 14 at the time and have been told Donaldson Airlines was involved, but the Aircraft clearly says Carribean. BUT, the paint Job Screams Freddie Laker - compare with Boeing 707-100 (G-AVZZ) by Peter Scharkowski
the pic is a scan of a slide so I might be able to drag out more detail...
Comments
Someone will know but this could have been ex-Laker, no repaint, just change the logo - plenty like that over the years.
I suspect that this B707 was originally with Qantas even before she was with Laker. The -138 model had limited range, which would account for needing a fuel stop in Gander, even heading east with tailwinds from KIAG to Gatwick.
I did a really high resolution of the slide looking for a tail number, but unfortunately if it's where I suspect it is, the pickup truck with the stairs blocks the nose gear door and the pax block part of the tail. Oh well...
And I FINALLY found the DC10 in laker colors to compare with this. Taken at tbd by my Parents in 1974-5 time frame before Freddy got squashed out of business. It's under my name - no easy way to link to it from here.
