CONVAIR Privateer (N2871G)
A B24 Liberator performing low passes at AirVenture 2015!
Comments
Chris, this one is the Consolidated PB4Y-2 Privateer. It was based upon the Navy's version of the USAAF's B-24 Liberator, which was the USN's PB4Y-1 Liberator (and identical to a B-24 Liberator).
Thanks for sharing this nice photo with us!

Thanks for the info Cliff. It seemed a little different than a Liberator so I was wondering what it was. I'm not good with my military planes if you can tell :)
You're welcome, Chris... and not to worry, you were very close on this one!
The first PB4Y-2 Privateer that I saw had me confused. It was at Elmendorf AFB and one of a group of forest fire fighting aircraft - contractor owned, not USAF. The Privateer was at quite a distance... parked all the way across the field. At first I thought it might be a B-32 Dominator, another Consolidated design and contemporary to the B-29 Superfortress. If the Superfortress was "plan A", then the Dominator was "plan B".
