North American F-86 Sabre (53-1045)
This photo, the first-ever FA gallery picture from KBAM (Battle Mountain, Nevada) airport to be posted into the FA gallery, was taken nine years ago (in August, 2008). It shows a North American F-86L Sabre (53-1045) and, in the background, a McDonnell Douglas F-4E Phantom (66-0286). In the nine years since this pic was clicked, both of these old warbirds have been removed from KBAM.

The news regarding the fates of these two frames is wonderful! This photo was taken in 2008 when both were on display (seen here) in an untended plot of ground, overgrown with weeds and fenced off by a bent and leaning old fence. A couple of years later, the F-86 Sabre was removed from the stick and relocated to Wendover where it can currently be found at the Historic Wendover Museum. As for the Phantom, it, too, was taken out of this neglected location. Today, it can be viewed at the Veteran's Park in Hamilton, N.J.
glad to know these 2 warbirds survived, thanks for the info Gary
