Lockheed P-3 Orion (16-0293)
US Navy Lockheed P-3C Orion (160293)
Comments
Never flew in an Orion (the military variant of Lockheed's L-188 Electra); however, I had the fabulous pleasure of being a pax in American's Electra IIs a few times (Buffalo to NYC; Buffalo to Cincinnati, Buffalo to Toronto and return, Cleveland to Buffalo; etc) and I'd be overjoyed if I could get one more flight in an L-188.
Too cool, excellent calendar photo here! Dad flew PSA and Air California Electras SJC-LAX when we moved backed back to CA in 1967...and NAS Moffett same era+..had these daily.....and I have pics from atop Mt Umunhum while working on the Mtn peak, they'd fly over enroute to Moffett...I'll look for some to post...
Been to Moffett field many times. The large hanger was built for the USS Macon, lost 1,500 feet below the surface of Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary.
