CONVAIR CV-580 (N580HW)
Could not help having a flashback to a wonderful era of aviation as I snapped this 1952 Convair 340 / 580 (N580HW) as it went past me on its deceleration roll after landing on RNO's 16L yesterday morning. The Honeywell International aircraft was returning to Phoenix from Seattle (KBFI) and stopped here to refuel.

My first-ever flights were on American Airlines Electras and Mohawk Airlines Cosmopolitans (CV-240s) and Metropolitans (CV-440s). The very best seats on the Convairs were the ones in the last row. The view was unobstructed, and that was a plus. But the #1 factor that REALLY made those last row seats the best to be in was the thunder of the engines ... especially during the engine runup while at the runway hold point and then again just a few moments later as the plane began its takeoff roll. Jets are great, but I'm very glad I was able to experience the days of the propliners, too.
Great photo and commentary on this one, Gary!!! :-)
