Really cool picture. The back drop is amazing and puts in perspective how grand the Earth really is.

An absolute classic! Same question as for the ME-262 & P-51 photo - what was used for the photo ship?
Gary Schenauer
Cole >> a "photo ship" is the aircraft that Lyle was (supposedly) sitting in when he took this, and his other, photos. Don wants to know what type of aircraft Lyle is flying in when he gets all these air-to-air photos from all around the earth (over beaches and oceans, by mountains, over farmland, etc., etc, with one, two, three, etc., aircraft in formation that only he seems to be able to photograph) that he has been posting. Frankly, I'd also like to know what photo ship Lyle is in.

Hey guys, before anybody gets too carried away and starts accusing Lyle of fake shots, do a quick Goggle search, from what I see he is more than legit.

For those asking, photo ship was a Bonanza A36 with the rear doors removed.
Gary Schenauer
Howdy, Lyle. TY for the photo ship info. (You did not give that info here or when you posted this photo on JP back in May and some of us were curious.)
Todd ... No one has made any such accusation. Lyle has a large number of photos on JP and if his pics were fake the ultra super talented aviation photo experts in JP's exclusive review panel would have detected it and rejected his submissions. And as a bit of info, out of curiosity, I had Googled his site last week, and in the course of doing so, I detected an error made by the US Air Force in which someone at the USAF Museum at Wright Patt credited another photographer as the person who took a photo that Lyle has on his site. I've asked a friend who knows a museum agent to do two things: 1) advise the AF that their info about the picture taker is wrong and 2) advise us on how we, too, can get on board the museum's display aircraft to take photos (because when I was there I was told it was not permissable). There are many who would enjoy the opportunity, and would willingly pay extra $ for the opportunity, to get on board the museum's display a/c to take photos so we are inquiring. As for asking about the photo ship, I was interested because I'd like to improve my amateur air-to-air photo efforts, not because I ever expect to be the superb professional aviation and real estate photographer that Lyle is, but simply because I'd like to improve my hobby skills. And since there was absolutely no info (location, etc, etc) included under this photo and under others Lyle submitted, I decided to inquire. (Wave)

Hello Gary, yes additional examples of my work for the NMUSAF can be seen at this link (https://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/Visit/Virtual-Tour/Cockpit360/) and I was contracted to create the images in an effort to display the cockpits which access cannot be easily made available to the general public.

And I find fault with the statement "ultra super talented aviation photo experts in JP's exclusive review panel." I find JP's exclusive review panel biased and short sighted in their review process.
Gary Schenauer
(Grin) Sarcasm, Lyle. My glowing praise of JP's review panel personnel is all sarcasm. Those who know me from the time I joined FA thirteen years ago always instantly recognize my adoring comments about JP as pure sarcasm, but as you only recently joined FA I can understand why you felt my phraseology was seriously meant. I assure you, it wasn't meant seriously. Prior to 2009 (before I joined FA), my #1 goal was to get my photos accepted on to JP because, like everyone back then, JP was viewed as the ultimate aviation photo site. Over the course of about 24 months or so (2006-2008), I submitted 49 times. Each was rejected; and each rejection came with a reason. In order to improve my photo taking, I diligently listed every "reason' and before submitting another photo I always made sure I had not repeated any of the faults on the list. And I never once appealed a rejection. Until #50. When number 50 was rejected (w/no reason given), I appealed. My first-ever appeal included the fact that after each of the previous 49 rejections, I had not submitted another pic until I had corrected whatever faults they had previously found so #50 was fault-free. My appeal was denied with the comment that I "should learn to take better photos." That's when I joined FA and submitted a photo. It was accepted and I've been loyal to FA from then (in 2009) up until FA was acquired (last year) by Collins Aerospace (Raytheon Technologies) and its photo gallery began to be administered differently (ie: fake photos, photos copied from other sites including from JP, and social media-style pics are now encouraged so the gallery is on a downward spiral). However, there are still photogs out there who feel, as I once did, that JP is the goal every photographer should aspire to get a picture on because if JPs self-proclaimed aviation photo experts accept one of their pics, it means the photog has achieved PROFESSIONAL status. Trust me; that IS what some really believe. So whenever I have occasion to refer to JP's photo review people, I always heap on the accolades because the only aviation photo worth viewing is one they have blessed with their approval. Like yours. They have blessed your pics so you can now consider yourself a true PROFESSIONAL aviation photographer. Until they blessed you, you were just an amateur like me and so many others. (Big Grin and a wave)
