"Mustang Vs. Spitfire - Which Was Best?"
Great photo and unique to say the least! Thanks for posting it.
Sharp photo!
Spitfire came first. Both excellent fighters.
Purely in looks, there's no contest, Spit!!
I'll take the P-51D over the Spitfire.
wow
Mustang vs. Spitfire. Ask that question to any survivors of the Battle of Britain (The Blitz)
and I think you will get your answer.

Absolutely stunning photo. Congrats, Peter.
Being a Spitfire nut from down under, I had never seen this marking before, but it still looks great doesn't
Mustang Vs. Spitfire - Which Was the Best?"
Too Close to call.
Too Close to call.
Once the P-51 Mustang was fitted with the RR Merlin engine from the Spitfire, it became its equal, or better in the ground attack role. Before that, it was no contest. Both superb aircraft, just that one was British and the other American, and it showed in their respective design briefs, that's all.
Let's not overlook the Hawker Hurricane in the debate chaps....
