Delta to cancel 60 plane orders with Boeing, Embraer
New York (AFP) - Delta Air Lines plans to cancel orders for 60 new planes after company pilots last week voted down a new three-year labor contract, the company's chief executive said Wednesday. "Those orders will be canceled," said Delta chief executive Richard Anderson in response to a question on a conference call on the US carrier's second-quarter results. Man! More "jets for jobs" tactics by an airline in contract negotiations. You'd think airlines could learn a different tune to play.
Can somebody tell me what pilots not signing a labor contract and cancelling aircraft orders have to do with each other. Am I missing something here?
The dog ate my homework(or insert any other bullsh@t excuse here). Not the first airline lately to delay or cancel orders. The suits believe that the long term outlook for the industry is not as rosy as they first thought. Just trying to make the pilots look like the bad guys.
Makes the planes more expensive to operate? I thought the contract would reduce the pay scale for the 737-900 pilots to be same as -800. While the changes for E-190 would make work rules to allow for over-night stays with a quick turn without having a second crew pick up the flight for the early morning go. I do not remember where I was reading this, could not find the link again.
Make the pilots the bad guys, just makes me wonder about DAL's bottom line. How much debt are they carrying forward.
I seriously worry about this...not! Crying in their champagne?? Amazing... http://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/16/business/despite-weak-growth-delta-profit-is-way-up.html
