To Ric's point, the 'standard' is based on a 5'6" 145 lb male passenger and of course there will be no problem getting out of your seat against the window. But put a normal American male today at 5'11" and 180 lbs and the 'formula' no longer works. Add in the 95th percentile (which is no even considered within the FAAs calculation) of a 6'4" 250 lb male as 5% of the mix (which I believe is far lower than reality) and getting out of your seat in an evacuation does not meet the criteria anymore. So having a written rule, as Highflyer stated, that meets the current population and not the fictitious 1920 average that seems to be used will finally make the airlines create more comfortable (and most importantly) safer travel.

I believe the key theme here is this could be military or commercial - emphasis on military. Think tactical strike aircraft that can get to a hot location in only a couple hours (or less).

All European locations and not surprising considering that rail service has been evolving to keep pace with the traveler's needs in Europe. The interstate US railway system has stagnated since the 1930s and your only long distance rail system travel choice is AMcrash. Granted there are many 'local' rail systems that meet the commuter's requirements to get back and forth to work, but taking a train from most major cities to another major city (with exceptions in New England where everything is close) is always faster by air.

The 'deal' was put in place by executive fiat after being rejected by Congress in 2015. IF the law would have been followed, Congress should have taken up the executive order and voted on it within the first year - which did not happen in deference to whom was slated to become the next President (can't imagine how bad that would have turned out). Declaring this 'deal' dead using another executive order in the current administration is absolutely legal and in line with Constitutional law, in spite of the off-base declarations of the far left to the contrary. Congress will now have the responsibility to review and vote on the next treaty, holding Iran accountable to the letter of the law, that will have the backing of the people of the United States. There may even be a carry over of the aircraft deal, if Iran can show it will actually join the rest of the civilized world and abide by the terms of the treaty.

The news media is not a 'testing service' for any federal mandates or agencies, yet they believe it is their God given right to check up anyone and anything of their choosing. Yes, this media crew should be made an example of and prosecuted as a terrorist attempt, so other 'fact checkers' don't do the same thing.

Service dogs should have to wear an identifying vest and attached to that vest is a federally issued license to verify the dog has been trained for the purpose it is intended. Pigs, cats, birds and other animals are not legitimate service animals, they are pets and need to go into the cargo hold if they are traveling with their needy owners.

Actually, she appears to be part of the elitist entitlement crowd, it's all about her and if she does not like something then you must submit to her wants. Doesn't matter there are 130 other people taking the same flight or that the dogs in question are legal service dogs for those people with a handicap. The sane general public should not have to put up with people like this and I, for one, would be cheering when she was being removed from the aircraft...

Boeing X-48B should be the B-797 to easily meet this goal of cargo and passengers for a longer haul aircraft that can meet or exceed fuel burn economy for such long distance routes.

3.5M to bulldoze the entire runway - yes it will be much shorter. This is the playbook from Chicago where hishighness Daley took out Meigs Field one Sunday night while the FAA and aviation community was fast asleep. now it is a sanctuary-city park where people go to get mugged quite often.
