Maybe it's a US/UK thing, or maybe it's because I mostly use EJ, Jet2, Ryanair or charters, not legacy carriers. Anyway, apart from that the main thing is that whatever Boeing or the FAA or anyone else say in the future, it will be very difficult if not impossible to rebuild confidence in the MAX. Most people haven't heard of the E190/E195 B77W etc., but everyone's heard of the 737 MAX.
I've just done a dummy booking with EasyJet, I couldn't see anything telling me what plane would be used. I thought it might be on the seat plan page, but apparently not.
In all the flights I've ever taken, the only time I was told what type of plane would be used was when booking with TUI, when it was stated the flight was on a Dreamliner.
In the UK, passengers are regularly told that there will be no peanuts served/and a ban on eating them due to a passenger having an allergy. I can't believe that a passenger with an allergy would be asked to leave the plane!
Well, the last 2 return flights I made from MAN UK to Crete, Greece using Ryanair (£130 return) and Easyjet to Mallorca, Spain (£110 return). All 4 flights on time. all using planes less than 4 years old. All including 55x40x20 hand luggage (unlimited weight for EJ, 10kg for RA). What's not to like???
Without wishing to appear an apologist for Mr O'Leary's headline-grabbing antics (and that's what they are, not serious proposals) my wife and I have both flown RA for very little cost. For instance, Manchester -Dublin for a day trip, out at 0700 back at 2100, cost £40 return including taxes. Manchester-Majorca return for less than £100 including taxes. I've just booked Manchester-Crete, Greece for £130 return including taxes. That's a trip of approx. 1500 miles each way! And if you do want to add a bag to the 10kg hand luggage, it's £40 return.
