State-owned airline South African Airways has run up losses of R28bn over the last 13 years and is now selling nine commercial airliners, 15 spare engines and four auxiliary power units. Boeing 767 Emergency Landing at Madrid

A Boeing 767 has made a successful emergency landing at Madrid. Shortly after taking off, parts of the landing gear of the Air Canada plane collapse and impacted an engine. Light Plane Crash in Johannesburg

A light aircraft has this morning crashed in a residential area in Midrand, Johannesburg. Emergency medical services report two people, the pilot and a gardener, were killed, while two houses were slightly damaged. South African Express now into Business Rescue

Like South African Airways, South African Express is now also facing business rescue prospects. Ziegler SA (owed R1113 million by SA Express) lodged an urgent court application for SA Express to be placed under business rescue as it cannot pay its debts.
