Looks like under full thrust it would tear the engines right off the wings

I remember when I was a kid growing up in the south suburbs of Chicago. Our house was right in the glad path for MDW. This was way before 0RD became a civilian airport. I always used to get a kick out of watching the Connies fly over with all the flames coming out of the engines exhausts. I never had the opportunity to ride on one but I enjoyed immensely seeing the one that was on static display a few years back at AirVenture in Oshkosh. Considering the few that are left flying, it may have been the same plane. I remember it was.also TWA.

I believe this plane was their prototype. I saw the same plane at Oshkosh Airventure two or three years in a row until they ceased production. The tail number, I believe was 500 for the model number and then AX stood for Adam Experimental. Correct me if I’m wrong. Also, if I remember right, it was the first all composite construction. Oshkosh also had cut-away sections of the fuselage showing the composite construction.

Looks like they overloaded the tail

Look on down. The flag on the tail of the RC-13 is also reversed

New type of brakes??? Leave it to the Europeans to be right on top with new innovations.

Nice touch with the American Flag in the nose

To Ernst Linnemann. They do have at least one fire fighter version of the Air Crane. It carries the name "Elvis" and was at Oshkosh 3 or 4 years ago. They did a few water drops over the runway. You might find some photos at www.airventure.org. Elvis was also used in a program on, I think, Discovery Channel where they were constructing high-line electrical towers somewhere in Canada.
