This seems a common theme around the country. I've seen it attempted in Atlanta with KPDK and Florida with KSUA. People will intentionally buy property that is undervalued because of its proximity to an airport, then lobby hard to have the airport closed so that their property values will get a large jump and they can flip them. They use the whole class warfare idea (this airport only exists for the 1% and us poor upper middle class need the government to save us). I wonder if something similar was happening with KCGX.

Technically, the Peter Principle states that people are promoted until they become incompetent at their job. This reads more like the Dilbert Principle where poor performers are promoted to a level where they can do the least amount of damage.

Back in the 1990's, Airbus was threatening to sue DAL because they signed an agreement with Boeing to have an all-Boeing fleet. As I recall, the US Government forced Boeing to invalidate the contract as a condition for the McDonnell merger.

Most engine maintenance requires ground engine runs to verify proper operation. These are pretty basic tests. All engine maintenance facilities (other than line-maintenance only facilities) I'm aware of have some form of a test stand. Pratt, GE, and RR all have multiple development test stands capable of performing the more complex testing required for certification.

The 1100G is only on the A320 series so it doesn't affect the A330.

JetBlue has not yet taken delivery of any NEO aircraft, so your A320 will have the IAE V2500 engine.

About 4 years ago, President Obama was playing golf about 5 miles (as the crow flies) from my house. All of the sudden, I heard the distinctive sound of a low-bypass turbofan screaming low over the house. Running outside, I see a twin-engine prop plane being escorted by a USCG helicopter (that really surprised me) while two F-16's were orbiting, all four aircraft were about 1000' AGL. I heard or saw three or four other intercepts overhead during the weekend. I don't know what these guys were doing (we live close to the approach to Witham Field), but I do not envy their experience once on the ground.

The article mentioned that the man arrested was from Lancaster. Burbank is the nearest commercial airport to Lancaster (now that United no longer flies into Palmdale), so I suspect he, at least, was terminating at Burbank.
