This not the Evergreen B747-100. It is a later model B747-400. I believe Global Super Tanker Services acquired the firefighting tank and drop system from Evergreen and then installed it in a 744.
Ah, so much for the "Aloha Spirit".....
And out of curiousity, what is the legal drinking age in the U.K. as this idiot was apparently imbibing before he ever got on the plane.....
I don't think the CRJ-700 can make it from ORD nonstop to ANC, especially with prevailing headwinds. We are talking a considerable distance here. For example, back in the day, Northwest flew ORD-ANC with a B747. These days, the B737-800 can fly ORD-ANC nonstop and I'll bet that's what UA will use - especially as Alaska Airlines has now decided to quit flying nonstop ORD-ANC with their B737-800 aircraft.
Interesting to note that EADS has operated an Airbus mod center at Chennault (CWF) in Lake Charles, LA for a number of years now....
And I'm sure that Gov. Jindal over in Baton Rouge is wondering why this pre-existing EADS facility wasn't tapped for the possible new A320 assembly work....
Sounds like the usual marketing hot air from Mr. Leahy.....
And the A350 remains a paper airplane while the 773 is a known entity. BTW, it appears that UA may well cancel their A350 orders.
Airbus also previously said there would be no major problems with the A380. So I think we'll have to wait and see what the A350 is really capable of with regard to performance.
