After over 100 years of commercial aviation why is every incident still headline news? While any engine failure will get a pilot's attention I doubt this situation raised their heartbeat or caused them to break out in a sweat. For a fine example of how well trained pilots are listen to the transcript of the conversation between ATC and the pilot of the SW airplane that suffered a catastrophic engine failure. Anything for headlines, I guess
and also a sad commentary on the type of situation we are in when FA becomes a forum for political comments. As I have heard before, Air Force One doesn't care who is sitting in the back. Up in Canada, we have a type of 'rule by personal order' going on.
You are correct in that there are, and always will be, people who over-step their authority. If someone is banned from a certain airline it makes sense that they should be banned from others, but there have to be safe guards so a person in charge, having a bad day, can't destroy someone's reputation without cause. But that said, I agree with the comments from Mary Susan Watkins
If a person chooses to afford a space trip they will not be put off by a tax. Besides, since I am sure it was business related, the whole thing is deductible anyway.
A simple reply to those who want to diminish Zara's accomplishment. Just ask them how long it took them to fly around the world. When I was 19, a long cross country was from YXX to YYJ, and I was lost half the time. Way to go, Zara. You deserve to be proud.
As a Canadian, Trudeau is an expert on idiots, so he should know. Not sure how I feel about other airlines finding out these people's names but they (the idiots) deserve what they get.
I was a member of a flying club and one of our members had flown for the Luftwaffe during WW2. If you google "the missing ten minutes - Franz Stigler" you will find a story of uncommon kindness. In our lounge we the the original painting which depicted this event. Heroes and compassionate people wore both uniforms.
