I hope she didn't do that at cruising altitude.
But seriously: I can't understand that she was able to do that without being challenged by other pax or cabin crew !
I can't recall hearing that this flight was under a filed IFR plan and if this is not the case the pilot is responsible to maintain situational awareness. This was a clean cut CFIT. (controlled flight into terrain)due to marginal, below minima weather conditions. He was operating under SVFR, not IFR rules. Case dismissed.
If autonomous flight ability is dependent upon cameras, it appears that it relies on visual performance. This would exclude flying in IFR conditions, which is "bread and butter" reality in aviation. Therefore, pilots will always be required in case that meteorological conditions will change during flight.
