If it wasn't the for the Canadian Government bailing out Bombardier, the C series would have never been brought to market.

You're comparing apples and oranges here... Frontier airlines and the services Republic Airways provides to major carriers, are two different things. Frontier doesn't need the C series, if anything they want larger airplanes to cram in more people (i.e A321) to higher they're yield. Republic sold Frontier for a lot of reasons, one being, so Republic can focus on their "core" business. Frontier is now profitable. I sure Republic is kicking themselves because they sold off a profitable business.

Yep, NetJets has been getting newer airplanes over the years (which the owners pay for). But they still have older fleets, I don't even want to know how much a major Zonal Inspection costs. You figure the added costs of that airplane being out of service.

Here's the thing, Btweston is telling everyone they're missing the point on everything. He is missing the point on the whole industry, and frankly the global economy. He can't figure out that there is more to managing an airplane than just pilots pay and benefits.

Actually I do... Look at the Berkshire's SEC filings. Do a little research rather than rely on a bias New York post article.

If you can't make a living making $131k a year, that sounds like a personal problem. People would kill to make that kind of money in this industry. I know people who make far less and make it just fine!

Its funny how the news media is trying to scare the hell out of people. If people wanted to honest with themselves, you have a better chance of getting killed on the way to the airport.

Times have changed from the late 90s. I.e TSA (a tax passengers pay), thanks to Obama he's raised that tax ($5.60 per flight, or one-way) cause TSA does such a bang up job. Airports like DEN have doubled their landing fees, and raised taxes on aircraft parts. Less competition, lower frequencies on routes. It's more than just the price of oil.

Supply and Demand Airlines have merged (less competition), consolidated routes and fleet types (supply went down). The demand for air travel has remained the same. Prices go up! Basic economics folks!
