By bringing logistics in house Amazon is saving on average $2 a package. That's billions a year in savings. They are still mostly using the post office for the last mile delivery.

Actually the variables that have to be accounted for by an autonomous car is magnitudes larger then anything an autonomous plane would have to encounter. That is why they already have systems that can take off, fly, and land without human intervention. They are used mostly for freight deliveries and the law says that they still have to have pilots onboard. (for now)

Exactly. When the FAA does the evaluation tests they always use young, healthy, slim, athletic people. Watch one of their testing videos. They make sure not to use a representative sample of the American people

The airlines have a system called autoland that will land the plane under computer control. The downside is that the wind conditions must be very light for it to work correctly. If the plane is equipped with the equipment and it was programmed correctly it could land the plane under computer control

The re-enforcement to support the windows and the windows themselves add a lot of weight to the plane. The number is not pulled out of the sky. all freight companies already order planes without windows and they have real life examples of the weight and fuel savings.
