Solid? Probably, but they are loud, bouncy, and just generally uncomfortable. I have flown several times on the Q400 (Alaska) and E175 (Delta) between EUG/SEA and I much prefer the E175. Not much time difference but comfort level is much better on the E175.

Any bets on how many top management people at Boeing will lose their jobs? I am betting zip, nada, none. Most likely they will all enjoy their yearly huge bonuses; business as usual at Boeing.

Back in 1985 I was a res agent working in a call center in Salt Lake City. At the time we thought we had the ultimate in high tech equipment. I also remember we were "encouraged" to up sell rental cars, hotels, tours, etc. etc. on every reservation call we received. Each month a list was posted showing who was doing well, and who was not. If your name was near the bottom you didn't hang around for long. But I did meet some great people there and most were really loyal to Eastern. It is a shame they were so mismanaged.

Back in the early 80's I flew on ARCO Alaska's 727 every week, from ANC to Prudhoe Bay one week, and back the next week. Landed and took off from ARCO's gravel strip next to base camp. It could get a little exciting in the winter with white out conditions, but ARCO had some amazing cockpit crew and very few flights were cancelled. Occasionally they were diverted to the paved strip at Deadhorse. On nice days, the pilots would weave in and out of the clouds; those were fun times. Those 727's were just very dependable.

I wouldn't point fingers at anyone...............but, on my last flight with AS on one of their Q400 turbos, there were two guys up a couple of rows who both needed extenders. How they managed to sit together I can't imagine. They did board together last. And come time to get off, well, they both had a very difficult time getting out of their seats. If we would of had an emergency, I suspect they would still be on that plane. But I don't think any airline is going to pull all of their seats and install wider ones. I told my wife "my last trip on one of these bouncy babies".

What a story. So young and saddled with such responsibility. My dad joined the AAF before WWII and was discharged a few months before Pearl Harbor due to a collapsed lung (caused by a Army doctor). We grew up in Pecos, Texas which was a few miles from Pyote and my dad worked at Pyote field. I remember as a young boy the many planes stored there. I salute the Capt. and all the brave veterans who served our country. Soon there will be no WWII vets around, then Korea War vets, then Vietnam vets (I'll be in that group), and the list goes on.

Well, this is obviously a fake news story. I just heard our esteemed great leader blathering the other day about what a magnificent outstanding fighter this plane was. The best greatest ever. So, I will hold my judgment until I get the real facts from Fox News. The only true source of information. Them being fair and balanced and all.
