The F-35 Lightning II is an example of "designing the plane you're flying it." It's an awful idea, it's an awful critical design theory, and it has produced an awful plane. US DoT&E says the plane is defective. The USAF says the plane is defective. The US Navy's aircraft carriers can't launch and recover them. The Marines can't operate them in cold weather conditions. The list of critical design faults and deficiencies is staggering for something that's being fielded today. Or, you know, read the report.: https://www.dote.osd.mil/Portals/97/pub/reports/FY2020/dod/2020f35jsf.pdf

I would not fret about the paint scheme. There is no way that the current administration is going to allow the 45th president's redesign to go forward. The order is not complete, and the paint has not been applied. I would expect that the DoD will receive a "revised" design recommendation. Because, let's face it, the 45th president had awful, gaudy, disgustingly boorish taste. The classic JFK livery shall remain.

I did this exact thing many, many years ago. The agent actually told me to do it. Flying TWA out of San Francisco (SFO) to Kansas City (MCI) with a layover in Saint Louis (STL). I didn't even have to cancel the final leg ticket. I told the flight attendant I wouldn't be flying on to Kansas City and got off the plane. Saved almost 50% off the nonstop SFO-STL ticket price.

Maybe weather updates? Or Spongebob. Spongebob would be good. Everybody likes Spongebob.

Well the good thing is that scrolling to the bottom of the page gave me to a link to another article that bashed the F-35. So it wasn't a complete waste.

So they're already building the replacement for the F-35. Good. Now maybe they'll get those pieces of junk off the line and work on something that can fight.

That was the first thing I noticed. I was a copy editor for a local paper, and if one of the reporters had handed in a piece like that, I would have smacked them upside their head. Unless it was a direct quote, of course. The saving grace was that the phraseology was not "busted a U-ee." As for the actions of American? They reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason at their sole discretion. Flying is not a right. If you're going to act stupid, don't be surprised when you are treated stupidly.
