China Flight Delays Show Military Grip on Airspace

China's fast growing air travel market is the world's second largest, but when it comes to flight delays it's #1. A recent report by travel industry monitor FlightStats Inc. found that just 18 percent of flights at Beijing's airport left on time in June, the lowest proportion among 35 airports worldwide, with Shanghai second at 29 percent. Investigative Report: 19 Firefighters Possibly Saved Had Air Tankers Responded

U.S. Forest Service tanker fleet down 75% from 44 tankers a decade ago to only 11 now. The 19 firefighters who died in the Yarnell wildfire in Arizona this summer might have survived had any of the six U.S. Forest Service air tankers requested by the state arrived on the scene, a senior fire official told ABC News. Retaliation? United adds flights to Delta hubs

United Airlines is adding new routes to the key hubs of one of its biggest rivals. Starting April 1, United will add nonstop flights between San Francisco and Atlanta and between Los Angeles and Minneapolis/St. Paul. The carrier will fly two daily round-trip flights on each route. Hot Air Balloon Carrying Three Burns, Explodes and Crashes in Virginia

On the eve of the MidAtlantic Balloon Festival, a hot air balloon hit a power line as it was attempting to land, caught fire and then shot up into the sky before exploding and crashing Friday evening in Virginia. Boeing nets more than double Airbus' orders for new planes in 1Q 2014

Boeing said on Thursday it had won 275 gross orders or 234 net orders in the first quarter. Airbus ended the quarter with 158 new orders or 103 net orders after adjusting for cancellations. Report faults police response to Los Angeles airport shooting
