And the winner is Calder's paint job on Braniff's DC-8 circa 1969. Honorable mention goes to Eastern's Golden Falcon paint scheme in 1964.

And the winner of the longest city pairs in existence is: Auckland to Paris, north or south over either pole, 2 minutes difference either way. The A340 flew this route in 22+hours from the Paris Airshow in 2005(?).

The Queen of the Skies was the Lockheed Constellation. The Boeing 707 approaches, but no other airplane ever matched the beauty of Connie.

The greatest airliner ever built! I was on a Seattle layover 3 days before the first 747 was delivered. The Captain had arranged for a Boeing tour while on the layover. One of the recollections was the 40 747's sitting on the ramp at ____ airport awaiting delivery. PAA, TWA, BOAC, AirFrance, Northwest, Lufthansa...I forget who else had new 747's just sitting. I was later privileged to fly N731PA, when it was leased to Eastern Airlines. N731PA was the FIRST 747 in commercial service.

Thanks for reminding us what Lorenzo did to Eastern Airlines to favor Continental Airlines. Eastern did not get any remuneration for the theft of its Gatwick landing slots.

Where does Emirates find that many passengers to make these planes profitable?

Largest? Maybe the heaviest would be more correct from some unknowing reporter. The 1946 HK1 (Spruce Goose) is wider and taller and has more engines. The A340 is longer.

Before pundits get into wasted comments & speculation, here is a fact to digest: Every country in the world that has sophisticated satellites (China, Russia, India, USA, Israel, France, UK) had as much as 7 hours to have their satellite moved into position to watch the progress of MH370. Any of these satellites can read the writing on a dime laying on the ground, so it is ridiculous to believe that someone wasn't watching the entire scenario unfold. Somebody knows, but must remain silent to 1. protect their spying capabability and 2. to await the further scenario of this missing airplane.
