To keep a A380 with 570tons MTOW in the air flying with 800km/h a thrust of 4x320 KN is essential, equivalent to a power of 284.205 KW. Covering the whole wing surface 846 sqm with solar cells, assuming 100% efficiency of solar radiation with 1300 W/sqm would generate 1099KW, equal to 0,38% of the A380 power - it is foolish and naive solar power would be the future of air travel !

Why Pilot 2 should have started descent mode before becoming incapacitated ? It shows up no reason leaving level (human action) without informing ATC. Sequence looks more like suicide with controlled flight into terrain.

Thats no progress, thats only window dressing PR, spoiling 150 Mio EU. Can somebody tell me, how such a project with a fragile vehicle crawling with 35 knots ever will launch a solar powered aircraft with 400 passengers and an energy equivalence of 100tons fuel. There is a great gap between phantasy and reality. The laws of aerodynamics, structuraldynamics, thermodynamics and weather impact say no and never.

Flight Training with electric airplanes will not be the future as long we understand by future the next 100 years ! Accelerating some thousand kgs into the sky and keeping it there with nice maneuvers needs strong energy of some 1000 Ahs. With storage weight of todays techniques airplane payload will be reduced below zero. No university research has identified up to now electricity storage with an energy density close to fuel. Boeing's Dreamliner Batteries are such a blooper of naive progress ignoring physics.

Isn't it a crying shame what so called experts babble to the public to catch attention ? The "smoke theory" is absolute nonsense. Disregarding an explosion neither fire nor smoke developes so rapidly that pilots would be unable to press the mike button to inform ATC , or set code 7700 and initiate a rapid descend to the nearest airfield, instead of cruising more than houndred miles westbound away from original track with an intermediate climb to level 450, as primary radar data indicates. Even with zero visibility in the cockpit it would be possible to grasp the power levers to steer the A/C down at altitudes enabling to open the cockpit windows blowing out the smoke. But if it would have been an explosion distroying electronic equipment like radio, transponder and ACARS simultaneously then the probability that other A/C controls keeping the continous westbound track remained functional is pretty close to nothing. In that case the unsteerable plane would have crashed pretty close
