"and the tailwinds help provide aircraft taking-off with desperately needed lift."

That definitely didn't get anyone killed.

About the 1,312’ runway at the airport at Saba, the article says “…..the strong winds tend to aid aircraft when landing in a headwind…” Well, duhh. Who knew?

Then follows this gem: “…and the tailwinds help provide aircraft taking off with desperately needed lift.” Yep, sure, taking off downwind from a short runway is the best choice!

All in all, just another BS article from an outfit pretending to be a source for aviation expertise.

KASE -- yes I remember my first time....had an experienced Captain! We were not authorized for Circling to land on 33, but some of the airlines are.

KASE -- yes I remember my first time....had an experienced Captain! We were not authorized for Circling to land on 33, but some of the airlines are. Also, always at least 1 sim session every 6 months, take off on 33 and lose 1 engine...fly down the Roaring Fork to the NW and climb!
