Will see its kind of poke and hope deal as if they are granted special rates at airports then the others can do the same. Also like pointed out they are flying a very large AC and the need to fill it is great. So they would have to virtually cause the others to quit flying into them as there are only so many pax to be had at each.

Any competition is good and healthy for the industry. Servicing routes not on the agenda for the main streem carriers should give them a good shot at that part of the market.

Unfortunately Compass and Compass Mk II possibly show what could happen to an interloper offering cheap fares. Good thing is Bonza does appear to be going to tackle a slightly different market as far as routes go. Let's hope they do succeed.

Bonza is focused on alternative destinations to large carriers. They are in discussion and negotiation with 43 airports to confirm their final route options. Mid 2022 is the targeted start up date. It will be a massive and difficult implementation. Alternative destinations away from the usual state capital cities may entice travellers to explore newly introduced options and create tourism revenue generation to rural and alternative locations. GOOD LUCK.

This is good, but noone can take on Qantas.
Just want a reliable airline with cheap flights and good service.
Maybe I'm dreaming!!!!

Their business model is not take on QF JQ VA or (they claim) Rex. The articles I read said they plan to run direct leisure routes not currently being served by any incumbent.

FWIW… I think it’s a bold adventure and I wish them well. We’ve seen many great on-paper airline business models come and go in Australia trying to disrupt the status quo.

I think they may have underestimated Australians desire to holiday in Australia instead of OS. But as they say…. If you build it, they will come.

Could very well be that the current semi-monopolistic, very expensive flights to the regions are what’s held back many.

Given an ULCC option it may be enough to disrupt those markets.
