High-altitude holding pattern would be my guess.

This is not an unusual sight along the Oregon coast. Seems like some newer aircraft leave KPAE and fly down the coast , then pull a 180 turn and return to KPAE. Test and promo flights.

Thanks. Here though, the top of the arc is pointing directly north. Towards KPAE

Aerial refueling and airborne radar/surveillance aircraft will fly large racetracks in the sky that sometimes will leave a contrail. Most of the time they try not to fly at altitudes that will leave a contrail.

I also dont rexall very often either. Um just a jet making a 180 for some reason oh who really cares.
