I was there the day United delivered and donated it, still have some of the memorabilia handed out at the time.
Glad to see it's going to be out of the weather at last.

I would agree. I was recently near LAX and saw (and heard)a corporate 727 take off. Though it it was hushkitted, to my ears, it sounded just like the old days. If only to again hear a 707 or DC7, for that matter...Gotta go...I'm off to YouTube now...

Short of the Blue Angels in full afterburner, I think the loudest departure I ever heard from BFI was an old Learjet 24 freighter...

A B-1B at BFI, my hearing hasn't been the same since.
I've been around a lot of jets from airliners to fighters, but that was without a doubt THE loudest airplane I've ever heard.

Forgot the B-1... Many years back when they still had the Paine Field Rotary Club Air Show, I stupidly stood around without hearing protection at the edge of the tarmac while a Lancer warmed up a few hundred ft away. I was almost directly in front of it, and the scream of the engines even at idle was incredible. I ended up putting an F-16, also idling and only about 50 ft away, between the B-1 and me - it got a lot quieter...

I know I sacrificed a fair bit of upper range hearing that day.

I caught her as she was on final to BFI. I hope the folks in the Aerostar got some good air-to-air...

I'm not sure it's the one you are referring to, but a Comet is at KPAI, the same field the 727 departed from, painted in BOAC colors. I haven't been there since 2010. The cockpit was immaculately restored and the cabin didn't look bad, either.

It's the same airplane.
They're doing a complete and in depth restoration inside & out, but it won't fly again.

Now that it's at the MoF, do you suppose they'll be taking off the hush-kits to restore it to a day-it-was-delivered appearance?
