I remember the last formation flight NASA conducted. June 8,1966 resulting in an expensive mid-air collision and the death of one pilot. NASA pilots should stick to high altitude solo flying and leave the formation flying to the experts who do it every day.

I believe that two pilots died that fateful day. The pilot in the F104 Starfighter and also the copilot of the XB70 who was sadly unable to eject.
