The poster and author of this and other posts from the source brings up 'risk homeostasis' as a possible factor. The sort of question asked is 'does the technology offer information which allows one to engage in riskier behavior than one might otherwise do?' Akin to seat belts save lives, but at the same time allows you to think you are safer so you can go faster.
