Certainly something to think about. It would free up a lot of airspace and allow JFK to operate at capacity.

Not that it will ever happen, though.

Doing so would create another problem with traffic in and out of the airport. Also provides a way for an emergency to be handled if either airport is suddenly closed
if an AC has a problem. Bad idea would help nothing.
