JetBlue halts flights at 4 airports as deep freeze bears down on Northeast

提交時間:

JetBlue Airways, recovering from heavy weekend delays and getting ready for a deep freeze in the Northeast, took the extraordinary step Monday of grounding flights for 17 hours at four of the busiest airports in the country. The shutdown, which covers the three major New York airports and Boston’s Logan, will take effect at 5 p.m. ET Monday, the airline said in a statement. JetBlue said it would ramp up service again at 10 a.m. ET Tuesday and expects to be fully operational again by 3 p.m. “We… (usnews.nbcnews.com) 更多...

It utterly amazes me how after being a pilot for more than 30 years now - 20 of which has been as a Professional Pilot, (In layman's terms, that's how I earn my paycheck) just how many "bad apples" on these forums bash each other with uncalled for and very rude comments! If you cannot say anything nice to other patrons of this site, then PLEASE, PLEASE pay your back dues and REJOIN "ProPilotWorld.com" and dish out your immature bashing there! Believe me, there are many, many much more highly experienced pilots there rather than here, that will more than gladly take on your childish vituperations such as "Troll or "Twit" that you dish out to others here after they post a comment that does not live up to your "misplaced" level of expertise! Do us all a favor and get lost! This is a public forum - a place for ALL (pilots and non-pilots alike) to express their opinions on Aviation related news and not a "dart board" for the lesser informed "Sir bentwing60".....Thank You.....:-)

thank you - I admit to being EXTREMELY uninformed about the aviation industry but have friends who are pilot and respect the heck out of what pilots do and how hard they work. I am just trying to spread the word that hopefully someone looks into this morning deeply than *just weather* - I definitely don't mean to offend anyone and apologize if I do.

Ms. Pamela,
I hope you didn't misread what I posted! This was not directed to you, AT ALL! I was speaking of the person who goes by the username "bentwing60". I was appalled at the name calling he or she said to you when they called you a "Troll" or a "Twit"! I think FlightAware is a place for all, pilot's and non pilot's alike to post their thoughts and opinions and to learn from people like me who are in the industry and have been for over three decades. You just keep right on posting how you feel and learn from the pro's but please disregard the bad apples out there that have nothing better to do than to bash other people. Keep up the good work Pam! ;-)

Have you seen the weather over the past few days, especially in New England?

and where is JBU primarily based? It certainly isn't KLGB..

My opinion this is based on a multitude of factors, one of which was their need to reposition aircraft and crews.

I agree - weather surely contributed to this in a HUGE way (I bet it would've been a smooth transition to the new rules if the weather hadn't happened) but the other carriers records of getting in and out while jetblue cancelled filghts shows that something else was going on. over 48hrs, 38 flights sched from SJU to JFK - 21 JB,11 DL, 6 AA. JB cancelled 10, Delta 1, AA none

I'm so glad I found a site with someone talking about what's going on with JetBlue. While I'm well aware of the weather delays, this seems to be something more. My flight has been cancelled 4 times, and I'm still stuck in Tampa, Fl. I've been told at the airport that the plane crews aren't in the right areas, and they don't have people to fly the planes. That definitely seems like a management issue. They are offering no apologies or compensation. I'm totally appalled by what I've seen from JetBlue this past weekend.

me too :) I don't know if this site is an appropriate place but when I first posted here about the cancellations there was absolutely no word from JetBlue or the press about it, so I was trying to spread the word. I was lucky with my family and made it home after only 2 days - but many aren't as lucky and I care about them.

Doesn't explain or justify what is going on. Other carriers are making it in and out of NYC and Boston.

You do understand that Jet Blue LOSES money for each canceled flight. They have no incentive to cancel flights and cause grief for their customers...

of course, I don't think they are doing any of this on purpose. I am (sincerely) sure that they are doing their best and I am sure they are freaking out over there. My point is just that blaming it primarily (big headline) on the weather with a kind of "small print" secondary point that the crews were displaced because of the weather and need more rest doesn't adequately address what is going on. I honestly just want JetBlue to come out and admit that they dropped the ball. They weren't prepared to manage the crew times and they didn't communicate it to the customers and consequently flights that didn't need to be cancelled because of the weather were cancelled and people who spent days at the airport shouldn't have had to do that (they should've known my flight wasn't going to have crew, they should've cancelled it the moment they knew to save us the hell of being at an airport for 12 hours two days in a row with 2 small children - and we were the lucky ones!! I "reported" on the 48-46% of cancelled flight 4 hours before they made a statement about it - people should've known so that they could've been trying to make other arrangements instead of counting on an airline that was about to shut down. This was handled so badly with real people suffering the consequences.

You are either a troll or a twit or both. Please take your comments to an air carrier website of your choice. Your 7 hour participation on this site has not been a hit!

I'm truly sorry to offend anyone but I am trying to shine light on the fact that while weather contributed to this, it was the crew mismanagement/ shortage that is really the cause - people are suffering because of this and deserve the truth, help and accountability. I spend two 12hr days in an airport with two small children and met so many other families in the same position. I know many families still stranded. it isn't right and deserves an honest response, not the pr spinning that is happening.

JetBlue implodes, 48% of flights cancelled today

why isn't anyone talking about Jetblue imploding? 48% flights cancelled today,24% and 25% last two days.28% tomorrow.
