A uncommon but welcome visitor to quiet little Manchester Regional Airport (KMHT). McDonnell Douglas MD-11(F) / N619FE http://flightaware.com/live/flight/FDX872 (www.youtube.com) 更多...
In the interest of continuing the nitpicking... :)
Technically, all of FedEx's DC-10's have been converted to MD-10's for a while now. Regardless of what FlightAware and other tracking sites show, they are no longer proper DC-10's, no longer have Flight Engineer panels, and now have the glass cockpit of the MD-11. There are black "MD-10" stickers on each side of the nose that point this out.

Boys and Girls, an MD-11 or any other type for that matter is the same plane whether configured for cargo or PAX. @ Joseph: Your comment should have been "COMMERCIAL AIRLINES".
commercial just refers to flying for revenue, either passngers or cargo. makes no difference.
Commercial aviation is the part of civil aviation (both general aviation and scheduled airline service) that involves operating aircraft for hire to transport passengers or cargo.
Now to me, this is a sexy video! Yes, I'm demented. ;-)
Some of the coolest things I've seen while flying is climbing out of Austin (KAUS) during departure with me on the right side and the FedEx MD-11 climbing out on the right side. That rascal is massive but still looks so graceful. The funny part is it still moves so slow, it seems barely faster than I am.
I like flying into Manchester. Nice town! My favorite, of course, is flying the MD11 to Austin, my hometown. I'll send the link to crew on this flight. I'm sure they'll appreciate it. It was a gorgeous day, and a great job on the photography!
That is one of the cream jobs left, BUT, as close as they were, you know they saw the camera, as the FE was up by the window looking. Reckon they were showing off just a little? LOL
Well, what do call the 3rd guy then? There was definitley sombody looking out the windo over the FO's shoulder, and I'm a thinkin' they all had a 3 man crew.
Probably was a check-airman....I thought they ended their jump seat program after that one guy had a pyshoctic episode and tried to crash one of their planes in Memphis...I am probably wrong but I thought that is what they said in their feature episode of "Air Emergency"
We still have jumpseat at Express for business travel only. 9/11 ended personal jumpseating. Also, unless you are a crew member deadheading, you cannot jumpseat in the cockpit.
Any flight crew can jumpseat. We see a lot of other airline flight crews jumping with us and we jump with a lot of other airlines. Only FedEx Express non-crewmember employees are allowed to fly with us and only for business travel. Before 9/11, any Express employee could jumpseat anywhere in the world for personal travel on a space available basis. Kind of like "extreme standby!" Imagine getting bumped in Manila. :)
I jumpseat on the flight deck all the time. But I am with another airline and in the cass system. I do it every month for business or pleasure.you will see me in the jumpseat lounge in MEM waiting to meet the crew almost every month at some time.
