JetBlue deploys UV light cleaning robot to clean planes at FLL

提交時間:

JetBlue is using new technology, which they said will help make their planes safer in the era of COVID-19. The airline announced they are using a new ultraviolet light system to help clean and sanitize planes in between flights. “In clinical studies, ultraviolet light has been found to be capable of significantly reducing certain viruses and bacteria when properly applied at prescribed levels,” Honeywell said in a press release. “The Honeywell UV Cabin System can traverse an aircraft cabin in… (wsvn.com) 更多...

As Rainoxer stated, 'all shadows will keep the covid protected'. I don't see how any airline will be able to spend the money that will be required to completely clean the aircraft, and remain competitive with pricing. Everything needs to be completely wiped with antiviral liquids, including putting down the tables, emptying the seatback pockets, inside and out of the overhead bins, etc, etc.. Even if the spend the money (for employees and cleaning products), will the employees actually do everything?

Just read the article. It looks like the UV robot is being used in addition to other cleaning methods. The robot is apparently designed to deal with surfaces like seats and tray tables.

it is good to hear that news, but i think most people were under the impression all of the airlines flying at present were using that technology..

The project is intended to disinfect visible surfaces to prevent touch or contact contamination, there is an independent lab involved to test and swab (before and after) to measure the efficacy of the process. One pass occurs with the tray table and seat arms down, the reverse the opposite configuration. Both galleys and the lavs are also included. This is new technology that will augment electrostatic spraying and other enhanced cabin cleaning procedures already in place. It is also not a robot, it requires a human to push and pull it thru the aircraft at a specific rate of travel. Cleaning and disinfection strategies are focusing on primarily touch points to target the greatest risk to customers and crew. Training for operators is thorough to ensure proper use of the system and the operators safety and will take place next week with deployment immediately thereafter. We look forward to using this technology to enhance customer and crew member health & safety.

UV cleaning means all shadows will keep the covid protected. Ozone cleaning would be better.

Ozone is corrosive to most polymers which is what 80% of passenger aircraft's interiors are made of. It is also a severe irritant to people's respiratory systems. Unless allowed to properly dissipate before boarding, any remnants inside the aircraft can give a person with asthma a really bad day.

How do we know there are any shadows? The device moves around the aircraft, which could enable it to illuminate any space inside.

I'm skeptical of that claim. Got a source?
